NEMAH Service Region

Ø NEMAH was created in 2000, as a Non-profit Organization, serving the Northeast Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
Ø NEMAH is in the business of creating housing, and with that comes the opportunity to impact communities, provide stability for families, and create improved neighborhoods.
Ø As a non-profit agency, NEMAH is eligible to apply for many different funding sources and housing programs.
Ø NEMAH has accessed programs from the Federal Home Loan Bank, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the United States Department of Agriculture (Rural Development), to assist in its endeavor to provide quality, affordable housing for area residents.

Who is NEMAH?

Ø NEMAH is a non-profit housing agency dedicated to developing affordable housing in northeast Michigan and providing residents with homeownership opportunities.
Ø The agency received Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) status from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Being recognized as CHDO increases the agency's opportunities to apply to a variety of funding sources for program development.
Ø Although NEMAH is headquartered in Alpena, it serves the counties of: Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Crawford, Cheboygan, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Otsego, Oscoda, and Presque Isle.
Ø A board of directors governs the agency with representation from all of the counties.
